Subscriber data is stored in a private Google Sheets document accessible only to the site owner. Access to this document is restricted by Google account authentication and is not shared with any other individual or organization.

5. Email Sending Infrastructure

All emails are sent through Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES), a cloud-based email delivery service operated by Amazon Web Services (AWS). The following technical measures are in place:

• Domain authentication: The sending domain (chloenorthwrites.com) is verified and authenticated with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records.
• Bounce handling: Hard bounces are automatically processed via Amazon SNS notifications. Bounced email addresses are immediately suppressed from future sends to maintain list hygiene and protect sender reputation.
• Complaint handling: Complaint notifications (via ISP feedback loops and Amazon SNS) are automatically processed. Any address generating a complaint is immediately removed from the active subscriber list.
• Suppression list: We maintain an active suppression list that includes all bounced, complained, and unsubscribed addresses. This list is checked before every send.
• Sending practices: We do not send unsolicited email. All recipients have explicitly opted in through forms on this website. Email volume is consistent with a small independent author newsletter (low frequency, opt-in only).

6. Unsubscribe Process

Every email sent from this website contains a clearly visible, functioning unsubscribe link. Clicking this link immediately and permanently removes the subscriber from all future email communications. No confirmation step is required.

Alternatively, subscribers may request removal by emailing [email protected]. Unsubscribe requests received via email are processed within 24 hours.

Unsubscribed addresses are added to our suppression list and are never contacted again.

7. Data Sharing

This website links to Instagram, TikTok, and Goodreads. These are outbound links only. No data is shared with these platforms from this website.

8. Cookies

This website uses only two functional cookies. Neither is used for tracking, analytics, or advertising.

• cn_subscribed — Set when a visitor successfully submits any email signup form. Prevents the exit-intent popup from appearing to existing subscribers. Expires after 365 days.
• cn_exit_dismissed — Set when a visitor closes the exit-intent popup without subscribing. Prevents the popup from reappearing for 30 days.

No third-party cookies are set by this website. No cookie data is shared with any external service.

9. User Accounts
